Covalent Bonds

• Attraction to multiple Nuclei in the same orbital

  • The atoms aren’t sharing the electron, instead they are trying to take it are in stalemate

  

• Happens only in Atoms that have strong attraction for electrons

• Typically stronger than Ionic bonds because the electrons are closer to the nuclei

• Prefixes are used to tell the number of atoms in the molecule because covalent bonds aren’t really predictable

*No “Mono” on the first atom
